About Us
The MTSA Rec Soccer program is for boys & girls U4 to U10. No tryouts necessary and teams are not formed based on ratings/skill. Players will be taught the fundamentals of soccer. Dribbling and comfort with the ball at feet will be emphasized.
LOTS OF TOUCHES!!
Most of all, we will aim to instill a love for the game. Weekday practices are planned and facilitated by Infinity Training. Teams are brought together to review the drill/game and then breakout with their coaches to execute! Games are managed by our volunteer coaches.
Mantua Township Soccer is a volunteer-run organization that encourages all players and parents to join the fun! No prior soccer experience is necessary for players or coaches.

Frequently Asked Questions
Mantua Township Soccer Association is following the official US Youth Soccer Player Development Initiatives (PDI) established and released in 2017 by USYS. The Goal: Maximize touches on the ball and to get the most playing time for each child, while creating a fun atmosphere to develop and grow their love for the game! Read more about the USYS Player Development Initiatives HERE.
Positions are teachable, and many coaches use different formations which is their responsibility to teach the players when they get to 7v7 and beyond. Gameplay rules and skills such as throw-ins, where to stand for free kicks, and resets will be introduced at the U7/U8 level, however MTSA will also be promoting and offering optional training sessions, at no additional cost, to players ready to make the jump to the travel league where we will work with the next group of travel-aged children to teach them these skills before their first 7v7 game!
We will do our best to match players up with other players and coaches, but cannot guarantee team placements. In the USYS PDI document above, you’ll see the focus at these age levels is less team-specific, and more individual player specific. Training sessions will be group sessions without team separations and players may be swapped on game days in the event of team shortages. We want to encourage the players to get playing time with as many different players, as possible.
We can absolutely consider adjusting the division a player aligns to. Please reach out to recinfo@mantuasoccer.com asap after registering.
There are no try outs or player ratings for recreation and as such, you will find teams of various skill levels. Children develop at different rates and that is another variance that may be seen across teams. It is very normal to see a wide range of skill levels in a rec league. We will do our best to adjust a team and move players up or down if that adjustment is in the best interest of the child/family. Please raise these requests or inquire further at recinfo@mantuasoccer.com .
